This is a perfect example of the kind of family portrait I love to be a part of. They got out of the car and started interacting with each other. I pointed them in the right direction, where the light was perfect. I put myself in the right place for the composition I was seeking. And it was really nice that they wore perfect colors. Not matching, but coordinating. And bold. And textured. Thank you, John and Jen, for trusting me again with your family memories.

I’ve been doing this long enough now that I have repeat clients. The Williams family was my first “stranger” photo shoot. They were word-of-mouth, and I was nervous. But they were so much fun to work with. This time around was just as much fun. And thanks, Melissa, for telling your friends about me.

A beautiful evening and a beautiful couple. Amber and Jim were so fun to photograph. I just wish I wasn’t already booked for a wedding on the day they have chosen to get married. But if they decide to change their date . . .

Smiles come naturally to Julia, but we did get some serious ones as well. Either way, she’s stunning.

Just a few tonight.

I knew Julia when she was young. I haven’t seen her for years. What a treat it was to see what a lovely young woman she has grown to be. It was fun spending this morning with you, Julia – until the rain made us dash for our cars. We’ll have to do it again sometime! This is just a sneak peak. So many more to come.  (Thank you, Stephanie, for telling Julia’s mom about me.)

I have known Elaine and Ellen my whole life. I grew up with their sister, Karlene. And their mother is my mother’s dearest friend. Whenever I see Ellen and Elaine, they are as full of love and innocence as they were as little children. And they never forget anything. Apparently years ago I took a picture of them and promised I would send it to them. I have no memory of that photo, or it’s location, but recently when I asked if I could take their portraits, they reminded me that I had never sent that picture. I asked them if they would forget that picture if I sent this new one to them. They promised me they would.

Ellen and Elaine were blessed with an incredible family. Their parents have given them a full life, and they have blossomed. But recently they showed how strong they are.  They watched, with courage, as their mother slowly left them. Cancer took her away from them. This photo is dedicated to a mother who is missed daily. A mother who gave all she had, not only to her family, but to her friends, and to people in need. Hers was a life of service. Thank you, Darlene, for making the world a more beautiful place.

And thank you, Ellen and Elaine for living a life without guile. You too, have made the world more beautiful
